ASME - American Society of Mechanical Engineers

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers or ASME is a not-for-profit membership organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enrichment, and skills development across all engineering disciplines. While there are many ASME initiatives, courses, certifications, events, etc. the over-arching goal is to help the global engineering community develop solutions that benefit lives and livelihoods. Founded in 1880 by a small group of leading industrialists, ASME has grown through the decades to include more than 100,000 members in 140+ countries with over 32,000 student members.

McCormick Stevenson is very supportive of all our employees who chose to “give back” to our profession through volunteerism and communicating the excitement of engineering! Several members of the McCormick Stevenson team are actively involved in ASME.

Paul Stevenson, Executive Vice President of McCormick Stevenson

Paul became a voting member of the Board of Governors in June 2020 after serving one year as Governor-Elect. During his three year term, he hopes to inspire initiatives that will lead to growth in membership, in particular those who are early career engineers, and revenue for the Society. Paul, an ASME member for over 18 years, has been involved with numerous activities at both the local and national level with a focus on encouraging ASME’s younger members to “give back” to their profession in the form of volunteering within the Society.

Noel McCormick, President of McCormick Stevenson

Noel has been a member of the FL West Coast Section since 1997. In 2013, he was invited to become a member of the ASME Industry Advisory Board (IAB). IAB members provide varied perspective and industry expertise to help ASME in their mission to shape the next generation of engineers around the globe. In addition, members learn how other companies are developing their engineering processes, share new technological developments and network across the industries.

Matt Montgomery, Director, Technology of McCormick Stevenson

Matt has been an active participant on the Executive Committee for the Florida West Coast Section since 2007. Over that time Matt has served the Florida West Coast Section as Programs Chair, Vice Chair, and most recently as Treasurer. Matt has also represented the ASME Florida West Coast Section on the planning committee for the Tampa Bay Engineer's Week Banquet, which represents several Tampa Bay area professional engineering societies in celebrating engineering and recognizing outstanding STEM educators, engineering students, and professional engineers from the Tampa Bay area. In 2015 Matt was recognized as the Florida West Coast Section's Engineer of the Year for his outstanding contributions to the Florida West Coast Section and the Tampa Bay engineering community.
